Hands Of Revolution
Manch is a grassroots political movement that aims to install a bottom-up political and governance structure that distributes power evenly and safeguards the rights of ordinary citizens.
ABOUT US
Manch is an idea born out of the diverse struggles of individuals and groups in and from Sikkim by an intention and will to make Sikkim a better place to live in and to come home to.
Manch is an expression of our disillusionment with the incompetence of past governments in the state.
Manch is a culmination of endless conversations with friends, relatives, community members, and like-minded people about the systematic destruction of Sikkim.
Manch is a response to the dominant imagination of the state and the neo-liberal economy to mine our land for profit and attack the very basis of our humanity by reducing us into passive workers, consumers, and spectators.
Manch is an attempt to search within us, the remaining traces of honesty, integrity, and dignity corrupted and pushed into the background by monolithic ideas of success and achievement;
by active encouragement of individualistic aspirations;
by the misleading notion that money and power need to be hoarded;
by economic forces that erode the collaborative spirit that ties humans and nature together;
by a tunnel-visioned idea of the purpose of life.
Manch seeks to bring about a transformation in Sikkim by changing the structure of governance, the model of development, and the mindset of citizens.
Manch believes in the power of the collective, not in the cult of individuals.
Manch is rooted in the conviction that each one of us is intrinsically interconnected and interdependent.
Real Change
can come only
through our
collective and collaborative
effort.
It’s now time to replace the oppressive structure of governance with one that balances individual autonomy with a democratic, just, and inclusive society.
It’s time to replace the developmental model that looks at our natural environment and people as objects of exploitation, with a sustainable, participatory, people-centred model.
It’s time to replace the old, feudal, capitalistic, and hierarchical perception with one that is progressive, factual, distributive, and communitarian.
Manch believes that Sikkim needs a sound structure of governance that protects the place and the people from precarity, violence and insecurity.
Manch believes in having a government that safeguards the local from the homogenizing global.
To begin the process, we propose an alternative solution of zero investment, partyless politics with collective leadership and complete public participation
Manch is us. Manch is you.
Join the movement.
Be the change.
