Guided by our core values, Manch has a vision for Sikkim’s future that is captured in our 10-point programme:
A total restructuring of the political model
(empowering local self-governments and a flat political organisation).
A bottom-up economic model
to be institutionalised (environmentally sustainable; each region or province to develop their own development plans; locally owned and viable enterprises and industry).
Restructuring of the governance model
(decentralisation of power to departments; strong collaboration and coordination between offices; needs, skills, and interest of the government employees decide job postings; remove draconian civil services rules).
Quality, free government education
with huge emphasis on life-long learning and skilling of citizens.
Free universal healthcare
and a holistic understanding of well-being (focus on preventive healthcare by improving access to nutritious food, basic amenities, good housing, rewarding jobs, low mental stress, and vibrant community life).
A socially inclusive society
with high priority given to the rights of minorities, whether in terms of ethnicity, gender, religion, caste, class, and other social locations.
Protection of 371F
by creating bonds of solidarity and unity between the people of Sikkim and not by dividing them (restoration of the Nepali seats at the state legislature followed by equitable distribution of these seats among various communities; old laws will be strengthened and updated keeping in mind the changing times and the associated risks for the Sikkimese).
Uncontrolled migration and influx
to be checked by reducing the need for imported labour from outside (required outside skill and expertise to be brought in through a proper, well-documented process; migrant population to enjoy the same dignity of life as the locals; end informal and exploitative labour; naturalisation policy for high value, long-term migrants, who have contributed immensely to the welfare of Sikkim).
Zero tolerance to corruption
(creating various avenues of revenue generation and aim towards self-reliance; undertake small, sustainable solutions and make them highly effective in enhancing our collective economic wealth by using our own genius and imbuing it with high levels of honesty and integrity).
A robust welfare system
will be institutionalised to ensure social security benefits to those currently unemployed, the elderly, the differently abled, the sick, and the poor (no political handouts; basic minimum income to be worked out and delivered to those in need).
If your values align with us and if you believe in a similar vision for Sikkim then we can create change so powerful that it will sustain us for years to come. We implore the Sikkimese people to find and persuade good people to be our representatives for the next 5 years in government.
UMBHO LAGUM.
